Thank
you, for making our holiday so enjoyable. You took care of us from the moment that we
arrived in Chiang Mai. We really appreciate all the help you gave us planning our
itinerary and making it work out. The trip up to Chiang Rai was fantastic, as was
everything else. We hope to come back next year. Mr.& Mrs. Thorpe (London, England), March 2000 |
||
The one
day trek was just what we needed to fill our spare time in Chiang Mai. It was a day well
worth spent, exploring the rural areas and the swim in the waterfall was very refreshing.
Well organised, with a very knowledgeable and friendly guide. Michael Crosley (Surrey, England), March 2000 |
||
Everything
was very well planned. Our few days in Chiang Mai were organised so we had enough time to
relax but also saw a wide variety of sights. We especially enjoyed all the shopping
opportunities and the Thai cookery course on the last day. We hope to be back next year
and will book with Wayfarers again. Elaine Ferguson (Melbourne, Australia), April 2000 |
||
We booked
a room at the Empress Hotel and received very good service. It was nice to have someone
from your company meet us at the airport and help us to check in. He was helpful and kind.
We will definitely use your service again. Thank you. Rosemarie Müller (Zurich, Switzerland), June 2000 |
||
Excellent
from start to finish! Everything was just what we wanted, including the hotel. You showed
us some excellent places to buy handicrafts and a very informative city tour. Hilltribes
and elephants made it interesting; just a shame we didn't have more time. Mr. & Mrs J. Klein (Washington, USA), July 2000 |
||
We do
feel that we can recommend Wayfarers Travel. They organised the trek according to our
wishes. We wanted to have a non-typical tourist trek, and you made a very good arrangement
for us. It was a memory for life. Elise & Hildegunn Hanssen ( Kristiansand, Norway), July 2000 |
||
There is
honestly nothing I can say here apart from excellent. The rafting and the elephant rides
could have been an optional extra; but the trek itself was nothing but superb. An
educational experience for us all. Especially the river crossings which added a lot of
excitement and amusement to the trek. Martin Eldon & family ( Luanda, Angola), August 2000 |
||
Very good
service, booking our room at Chiang Mai Orchid Hotel. Quick confirmation, and very helpful
on our arrival in Chiang Mai. We will be back to take a tour next time! Alex Larsen (New York, USA), August 2000 |
||
Very well
organised. This was our first time in Chiang Mai and Wayfarers Travel provided us with a
wonderful trip. We can especially recommend our guide, Jack, who looked after us
throughout. Rebecca & Alan Andrews (London, England), August 2000 |
||
We just
did a two day trek which was fantastic. Our guide Jack was so informative and interesting.
He looked after us and educated us during the trip and was a total professional. The fact
that it was a private trip with only the three of us meant that we were not intruding in
the villages. All the hilltribe people were pleased to see us and we just fitted in to
village life. This was just what we wanted to see, genuine scenes and not special tourist
shows. A big "Thank you" to Wayfarers Travel and Jack! Robert Chapple (Dallas, Texas, USA), September 2000 |
||
An
excellent trip up to Chiang Rai. Professionally organised and we saw everything we wanted
to see. We will recommend it to all our friends. Thank you! Helena Skjold (Ventura, California, USA), October 2000 |
||
The
temple tour was interesting and well explained, our guide was an expert. We enjoyed seeing
the many different types of handicrafts made in Chiangmai and learning how they are made. Fiona Lambert (London, England), October 2000 |
||
A
fantastic one day trip - the one day trek you organised for us was everything that we
hoped for. The amount of hiking was just right and the elephant riding and rafting made it
extra fun. Thank you to Jack for a wonderful day! Brian Williams (Santa Barbara, California, USA), November 2000 |
||
The 2 day
walking trek was great. We were guests in hilltribe villages and because we were a private
group of 4, we didn't disturb their routine. We stayed in the family's house and the
experience was completely authentic. Nothing was laid on for tourists and we saw life as
it really was. We'll be back again for sure. Deborah Yoh (San Francisco, USA), November 2000 |
||
We can't
say enough about our guide, Ooey. She was on time every day, her English is excellent, and
she was attentive when we needed her but allowed us to enjoy our holiday as a family. Ooey
is an expert at this business, and a professional in every sense of the word. We will
recommend all of your services to our friends. We got so much more than a tour. It made
memories for a lifetime! Tom & Diana Fox (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia/ Ashburn, Virginia, USA), December 2000 |
||
We took
the elephant/rafting tour & it was fabulous. Jack went out of his way to make this a
great experience. Brad & Samantha Haber (Chicago, USA) December 2000 |
||
Everything
about the day was superb - ecstatic!! Jack is a very, very good guide who is very
informative and really educated us - the elephant ride, trek to the mountain village &
raft ride couldn't have been better. Hufft Family (Springfield, Missouri, USA), December 2000 |
||
Wonderful
experience to see the new Thailand as well as the lifestyles of the primitive tribes. A
great blend of old and new. Joel Haber (West Bloomfield, Michigan, USA), January 2001 |
||
I would
rate my overall experience with Wayfarers Travel as excellent - from the time of
introduction to being dropped off at the airport. I look forward to hearing additional
info. about travel to Myanmar and Laos. Daniel Guthrie (Singapore), January 2001 |
||
Thanks
again for a fun and educational trek. Ryan Bliss (Bangkok, Thailand), January 2001 |
||
Itinerary
was excellent! Terri Bieber (Texas, USA), February 2001 |
||
Our 4 day
trek couldn't have been better if we had dreamt it. Jack (our guide) and Nong (porter)
treated us extremely well throughout the trek (they also cooked the best Thai food we had
ever had), and provided great explanations and insight into the life of the hilltribes. We
felt truly honored to experience the actual hilltribe life firsthand, free of displays put
on only for tourists. (In addition, we never saw any tourists at all.) All thanks to the
mediation and experience of Jack and Nong. The trek itself was physically challenging, but
the village life and the scenery were great rewards. Thanks to Wayfarers for this perfect
trip - well organised & operationally and logistically seamless, and thanks to Jack
and Nong for a truly unique trekking experience. We highly recommend this trip for anyone
who is up to the challenge. Carlos Garcia & Jolene Smith (Washington D.C., USA), March 2001 |
||
We have
had a faultlessly efficient holiday in the hands of Wayfarers. Our guide was absolutely
wonderful in every respect. And we feel we have not only had a wonderful holiday but also
made a friend. Her judgement, efficiency and arrangements were faultless, and her company
was a pleasure. We would use Wayfarers again for any holiday that they cater for. Rob & Karen Reid (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia), March 2001 |
||
We
consider ourselves to be very fit and adventurous - this trek put us to the test! If you
are tired of the same old tourist traps this is a trek you won't soon forget! Amber Arnett & Chris Bently (San Fransisco, California, USA), April 2001 |
||
The trek
was wonderful and so insightful. We learned so much about the people. JACK WAS THE BEST!!
He really helped us interact with and enjoy Northern Thailand. Marlin & RaeAnn Shelley, Monica Butts (Bountiful, Utah, USA), May 2001 |
||
You
should consider offering some tours for all over Thailand because we really liked your
service and appreciated prompt responses to our queries. Sarfraz Hooda (Dubai, UAE), May 2001 |
||
Our tour
guide, Jack, was excellent and really made our trek. He was able to show us very
interesting villages, answer all of our questions and give us great cooking tips. John & Jenny Barrett (Singapore and USA), June 2001 |
||
The tour
was amazing, the jungle is beautiful. Guide is accommodating, fun, smart & a great
cook. Highly recommended! Emily Wiebe, Steve Neufeld & Jill Busby (Canada), June 2001 |
||
Thank you, Wayfarers, for a wonderful time
in the North of Thailand. We enjoyed every aspect and the flexibility of a private tour. We
got so much more than the normal package tours. I recommend your trips to anyone who wants
to see and learn about Thailand. The guide was excellent company and a wealth of
knowledge. We would never have found all these places or learned so much about Thai
culture by ourselves. Mary & Steve Turner (Colorado, USA), July 2001 |
||
Amazing trip, we will be back again! Tom & Denise Wyllis (Surrey, UK), July 2001 |
||
All aspects of the tour were very
satisfactory. Our guide was excellent. He was knowledgeable about Thai history,
architecture, culture and Buddhism. He was able to customise the tour to our interests
very well. William Donohue & Arturo Chiang (New York, USA), August 2001 |
||
We have both had an excellent time in Chiang
Mai. Wayfarers Travel is a very professional company who offer an excellent service. They
are friendly and flexible. A special thank you to a very knowledgeable & friendly
guide - Jack Chris & Jill Dixon (Warwick, UK), August 2001 |
||
The tour was fantastic and having such an
informative guide (Jack), made it extra special. He (and the driver) went the extra mile
to make sure we got the most out of our experience. I would definitely recommend this to
anyone who seeks the true Thailand. Clare Rowe & Corinne Harvey (Kent, UK), September 2001 |
||
The
4 day/3 night trekking tour we booked with Wayfarers was an experience
above our expectations. The guide took us away from normal tourist
trekking grounds and showed us the true life of 3 different hilltribes.
The guide was both very personal and very knowledgeable and balanced his
work well between being a friend and a professional guide. We strongly
recommend Wayfarers to others who want to experience North Thailand. Jan Hennberg (Kalmar, Sweden), November 2001 |
||
This
was our first tour experience in Thailand. We found our guide and driver
to be very flexible and pleasant. We would certainly consider taking
another tour with Wayfarers Travel. Tracy & Janean Slack (Gresham, Oregon, USA), November 2001 |
||
Overall
the trek exceeded my expectations. This is my second visit to the hill
tribes, and I found this one to be the most informative. The guide (Jack)
and the porters were very attentive, providing great meals and tribal
knowledge. (Steve White ) I had a blast! The trekking was very challenging with beautiful scenery and landscape. Jack and the porters were very helpful in pointing out the different herbs, spices and edible plants along the way. They used all of this while cooking us great meals. I was very pleased at the warm welcome we received from all of the homes we stayed in. A great tip - some string is great to take along as we taught the children "cats cradle" and played it for hours. Overall, thanks for a great 5 days! (Shirley White) Steve & Shirley White (Edmonton, Canada), November 2001 |
||
We
very much enjoyed our guided tour. Jack is an excellent guide with a good
sense of humor. We also enjoyed the flexibility to choose different
options based on our mood at the time. The long tail boat trips down the
Kok and Mae Kong Rivers gave us a chance to see a lot of the Thai
countryside. The brief visits over the border into Laos and Burma also
gave us a brief glimpse into another country. The tour stops along the
rivers and mountain villages was also very interesting in terms of seeing
how the Thai hill tribe people live. Finally, the elephant camp visit and
trek was a once in a lifetime chance to ride an elephant in a beautiful
setting. Robert Daily (Brentwood, TN, USA), December 2001 |
||
Wayfarers
Travel's services are excellent. They responded to our request for
personalized tours/itinerary in ways that exceeded our expectations. We
recommend them without reservation and plan to use them again when we
return to Chiang Mai for another holiday. They were also able to
accommodate our special diet requests as our daughter has Celiac disease
and others in our family have food allergies. Thank you for a great
holiday. Anne & George Harper (US citizens living in Manila, Philippines), December 2001 |
||
We
can't fault it - we have had a wonderful, perfect day. Everything was much
more "real" and natural than we had expected, and the elephant
ride in particular was one of the highlights of our entire time in
Thailand. Jack is an excellent guide and we certainly hope to venture out
with him again another time - he knows so much and is so friendly we
couldn't help but have a great day! Robert Mankin (Leatherhead, UK), January 2002 |
||
Both
the tours we undertook were brilliant in terms of interesting places,
learning more about Thailand, it's people and culture. Our guide made it
even more special with his knowledge and experiences. Having a private
vehicle made a huge difference as we were able to do as much or as little
as we wanted - we managed to squeeze in extra things on both days which
was fantastic - we have memories we will carry with us always. Superbly
organised tours which have added to an amazing stay in an amazing country!
Wayfarers will be highly recommended to others - Thank you. Karen Charles (London, UK), January 2002 |
||
From
the moment our guide, Jack, met us at the airport we felt well cared for
and safe. The trek was the trip of a lifetime - filled with beautiful
terrain, kind and gracious people in the villages, and meticulously
prepared, delicious food. We felt like we saw the real Thailand,
and enjoyed every moment! Leslie Dickson, Lynne Snifka and Amy Menard (Anchorage, Alaska, USA), February 2002 |
||
We
were afraid that the trek would be just another tourist gimmick. However,
we feel like we were able to gain a realistic perspective of Northern
Thailand life. We enjoyed going to remote villages and staying with actual
tribal families. We will highly recommend Wayfarers Travel company
to everyone we know. It was a really amazing experience and something we
will never forget! Ashley Howard & friends (Texas, USA), February 2002 |
||
A
brilliant time throughout! We wish we had scheduled more time for Northern
Thailand. Two days wasn't enough. We will be back again though! Belinda Porch & Tim Marks (Surrey, UK), March 2002 |
||
We
especially enjoyed the explanations of all the sites that we covered. Our
guide knew about the history, legends and culture of the region in depth.
We could never have learned so much by visiting these places ourselves. We
enjoyed the whole trip and felt we had learned a lot at the same time. Thank
you. Bobby Hind & Susan Parker (Singapore), March 2002 |
||
Our
guide and driver were very attentive to our needs. Taking a private tour
meant we could stop at places along the way; and ask as many questions as
we liked! We think your service is just amazing and will be recommending
you to all our friends. Robert & Carol Sims (New York, USA), April 2002 |
||
When
your guide, for a one & a half day tour of North Thailand, is a former
Buddhist monk .... You are certain that by the end of it your knowledge of
the region; its neighbouring countries & their peoples will be greatly
improved. Chai (our guide) led us to elephants that in turn took us along
winding footpaths through forests that arrived at remote hilltribes; to
manic market-places in each of three bordering countries; to caves where
sleeping Buddhas lie..., and he even expertly scared away monkeys that
refused to go away when the bananas and peanuts were finished. This was no
ordinary guide or tour, but more like meeting up with an old friend that
wanted to share with you the delights of his country. Nicola Stanton & Leandro Rotondi (London, UK), April 2002 |
||
Our
guide took us to a Karen hilltribe village where he had been before but
other tourists don't go there. He got along well with them and they all
made us feel comfortable visiting there. We enjoyed the visit and eating
lunch there. Rena Vetter (Lost Nation, Iowa, USA), May 2002 |
||
The
whole tour was very fulfilling. L. Lance & C. Hastings (Portsmouth, England), May 2002 |
||
The
trip has been a huge success for us. We had to change plans at the very
last minute & Wayfarers were extremely accommodating. Jack, our guide,
was superb - spoke excellent English and knew everything about history. We
could have asked for no better. Gina & Alastair Scott (New Zealand), June 2002 |
||
We
would highly recommend the tour and our personal guide. The guide was very
personal, professional and informative. An excellent day! Jaime Frers (Oakville, Canada), June 2002 |
||
Very
well organized and efficient tour. Incorporated many different visits in
one day, which were very enjoyable. Jane Trasler (Northwich, Cheshire, UK), July 2002 |
||
The
three day trek through the hilltribes was an exceptional experience. Jack
allowed us an authentic view of the tribal life. It was highly
instructive, the scenery was most impressive, and the cuisine was
outstanding. It revealed the true diversity of Thai culture. We would
highly recommend this trip for anyone interested in a real Thai experience
that is not in any way a typical tourist trip. Martin & Kristle Agran (Cedar Falls, Iowa, USA), July 2002 |
||
This
is not your typical trek. If you are looking for a serious hike through
the jungle and a true taste of what hilltribe life is like, this is the
trek for you. The guide and the porters are wonderful, informative and
accommodating. Robert & Lucille Marvin (Washington D.C., USA), August 2002 |
||
The
trek was exactly what we were looking for, not touristy, or overcrowded;
peaceful, relaxing & authentic, giving us a true Thai experience. We
experienced a little of everything, which amounted to a super few days. Tony Lancashire & Rebecca Hoppe (England), August 2002 |
||
Driver
& Jack always on schedule. Very prompt. Jack always available to
answer questions and be available for support. Porters, nice, helpful and
attentive. Karen Staff, Larry Shapiro & Susan Grove (New York & California, USA), September 2002 |
||
I
travel to Chiang Mai often, with a working team to help at a children's
home. We work long, hot and very rewarding hours. On our weekends, the
team gets to do some personal touring. Our tour guide, Jack, took
excellent care of us. Everything was perfectly planned and executed. Jack
was very attentive and knowledgeable. My team told me many times
that evening, that they really enjoyed our time and it was a very special
day. Travelling in Thailand requires patience, flexibility and patience.
Something always goes wrong, that's why a favorite phrase in Thailand is
"Mai Pen Rai" (sort of equal to "oh, well"). However,
our day out planned by Wayfarers Travel was perfection! And since we work
as volunteers during the weekdays - our days off are precious to us.
Wayfarers and Jack made it perfect! It was nice to be taken care of with
such detail and professionalism. Dell Chalk & friends (Vienna, Virginia, USA), October 2002 |
||
Even
before we arrived, we felt warmly greeted by Sarah. When we arrived, we
were taken care of from beginning to end. Our guide, Jack, took us through
beautiful scenery and to real hilltribe villages, unaffected by tourism.
The uniqueness and professionalism are notable. We would recommend
Wayfarers in a second! Laura & Michael Greenberg (San Francisco, California, USA), October 2002 |
||
We
would like to say thank you very much for the time we spent with Jack. The
two days were extremely well organised and Jack's knowledge of the areas
we visited were second to none. We would recommend Wayfarers Travel to any
of our friends who may visit Chiang Mai in the future. Thank you once
again. Jo Murray & Tim Weekes (London, UK), November 2002 |
||
Wayfarers
elephant tour was absolutely fantastic. Every aspect of the day was
catered for, including an amazing Thai lunch beside the river.
Unfortunately, due to the rain, the river was too high to go rafting, but
our guide made sure we got to see lots of other places of interest to make
up for it. Denise McClenaghan & Alex Cruse (London, UK), November 2002 |
||
The
3 day mountain trek with Jack (our guide), was excellent. We had 2 nights
with 2 different mountain tribes, which was an incredible cultural and
sociological experience for our family Haegert family (Surrey, BC, Canada), December 2002 |
||
Wayfarers
provided a first class excursion. The guide and driver were courteous and
friendly. The guide was familiar with the surroundings as well as an
excellent cook. The elephant trek was a wonderful, breathtaking experience
and two hours long as advertised. The Lahu accommodation was authentic and
very rugged, also as advertised. Bill Metz & party (Sudbury, MA, USA), December 2002 |
||
The
day trips are good and well planned. They take up enough of your day that
you get a lot done, but leave you enough time to still explore things for
yourself. Plus our guide was excellent. Robin Moody (Beckenham, Kent, UK) January 2003 |
||
I
would strongly recommend the combination of tours (Doi Suthep &
handicrafts; temple tours; elephant riding/rafting and hilltribe visits)
that we took. It was a varied and very interesting experience. I would
also recommend our guide (Veera Lee) - he was wonderful and made our trip
to Chiang Mai very memorable. James Hill (New York, USA) January 2003 |
||
Jack,
our guide was very informative, his communication was very clear and he
had a good sense of humour. Leslie & Denise Klaff (Mercer Is., WA, USA), February 2003 |
||
Excellent
visit to Chiang Rai, Golden Triangle and hilltribe villages. Jack took
good care of us and made us feel comfortable and welcome. Lorraine Karen (Denver, Co, USA) February 2003 |
||
Thank you for the
excellent tour to Sukothai. We appreciate that everything could be planned
around our schedule of flights. We really enjoyed seeing around the
amazing historical sights and having all the history explained to us. It
made so much difference being on a private tour and being able to spend
longer at some sites which we found particularly interesting. Again being
on a private tour meant that we could start early in the morning before it
got too hot. Thank you to our helpful and knowledgeable guide and his
driver. |
