Chiang Mai Half Day Tours - a selection of tours that can be completed in just half a day around Chiang Mai. They are ideal if you have limited time or they can be combined to make an itinerary. You may choose to go in the morning or afternoon; although please note that some of the tours are only available in the morning.

Doi Suthep (ref. CMHD1) - departs morning 9am, afternoon 1pm |
Visit the North of Thailand's most important temple - Wat Phrathat Doi Suthep. It is situated approx. 14kms. north-west of Chiang Mai and is about 1,200m above sea level. It is Chiang Mai's most important temple and to reach the building itself you have to climb 190 steps (or you can take the small "cable car"). However, it is well worth the effort. At the top, you are rewarded by the sight of the temple itself, with its large golden stupa, plus an incredible panoramic view of the city of Chiang Mai. |

Chiang Mai Temples (ref. CMHD2) - departs morning 9am, afternoon 1pm |
Visit four of the most important temples in the city of Chiang Mai: Wat Chiang Man, Wat Phra Singha, Wat Jed Yot and Wat Suan Dok. You will see some amazing examples of temple architecture and Northern Thai craftsmanship. Your guide will explain the history of each temple and stories related to it. |

Handicrafts (ref. CMHD3) - departs morning 9am, afternoon 1pm |
Visit some of the main handicraft centres in the area between Chiang Mai and Sankamphaeng and other locations in and around Chiang Mai. The types of handicrafts in these areas include: silver, lacquerware, silk, wood furniture, and ornaments, saa (mulberry) paper, traditional umbrellas, ceramics and much more. At each place they will have a showroom where you can view and purchase their products.On this tour, if you are interested in any particular kind of products, please tell your guide and he/she can then take you to the locations where they are made. |

Half Day Thai Cookery Course (ref. CMHD4) - departs morning 9.30am |
Take a half day
Thai Cookery course at the Green Mango Thai Cookery School. The day includes
a visit to the market, preparation of curry paste from scratch, explanation
of rice preparation & cooking, and the cooking and preparation of three Thai
dishes. The course runs daily starting 0930 and menu varies according to day. Pick up and drop off from/to city hotels and guesthouses is included. You get your own recipe book to take home. Not to be missed for fans of Thai food & cooking. Menu depends on day of the week unless you choose a private course. |

Mae Sa Elephant Camp
- departs morning 8.30am only |
Visit the Mae Sa elephant camp, approx. 12kms north of Chiang
Mai. You will see a show where the elephants demonstrate some of their many skills.
Afterwards you may take a ride on one of the elephants (approx. 1hr). From the elephant
camp we go to one of the largest orchid farms in the Mae Sa Valley, where you will see a
stunning selection of these beautiful flowers. (OPTION = elephant riding for 1 hr) |

Chiang Dao Elephant Camp
- departs morning 8.30am only |
Visit the Chiang Dao elephant camp, approx. 60kms north of Chiang Mai. You will have time to explore the camp and see many of the elephants and there will be a show where some of them demonstrate their skills.. Then take a ride on an elephant for about 1 1/2 hours to a Lisu hilltribe village. The Lisu are one of the more colourful tribes of Northern Thailand. | |
Ancient City and Wooden Crafts

This trip first takes you to the ruins of the ancient city of Vieng Kum Kham, on the southern outskirts of Chiang Mai. Here your guide will explain how the history of this place is related to the founder of Chiang Mai and the early history of the area. From here, we continue further south, to Ban Tawai, an area famous for its woodcarving and antique reproductions. You will be able to see a wide range of products, mostly made from wood. Some are antique reproductions and some are more modern designs. |

Lamphun Temples
- departs morning 8.30am afternoon 1pm |
Visit the town of Lamphun approx. 25kms south of Chiang Mai. The history of this town goes back even further than that of Chiang Mai. Tour around the old area of the city and visit two of the town's most famous temples - Wat Phrathat Haripunchai and Wat Kukut. |
