Hilltribe Overnight Stay - CMT2D Our popular 2 day trek to the area north of Chiang Mai. This is a fairly easy trek and the route can be altered to make it a very easy trek if travelling with children or older people not used to hiking. Day 1 Start of our two day trek. Drive north of Chiang Mai towards Chiang Dao, taking approx 1 ½ hours. First visit the Chiang Dao Caves, a cave complex used as a Buddhist temple for hundreds of years, and then have lunch. After exploring the caves drive half an hour further to an Akha village and start our trek. Walk for 3 hrs in the afternoon until we reach a Palong village. We can choose either a harder 3hr hike or an easy 2 ½ hour lowland hike, depending on group fitness. We spend the night in the Palong village. (L,D) Day 2 Ride the elephants out of the Palong village for approx. 1hr. Walk for a further 30mins, then meet our transport and drive to the start of the rafting trip. After lunch board the rafts for a 1hr trip down the Ping River. Drive back to Chiang Mai.(B,L) Highlights = elephant riding, rafting & Chiang Dao Caves, as well as hiking in the hills around Chiang Dao and meeting the Palong tribe. A good trek for anyone who is not fit, and as it's a private trek you can stop as often as you need.
