We requested a longer elephant ride. This trip is suitable for everybody, the hiking is fairly easy and you can just relax during the elephant ride. We enjoyed the peaceful Karen village and taking the trip at our own pace, as its a private trip.

Elephant Excursion - CMT2H

One of our most popular 2 day treks to the area north of Chiang Mai. This is a fairly easy trek with extended elephant riding and the route can be altered to make it a very easy trek if travelling with children or older people not used to hiking.

Day 1    Drive north of Chiang Mai (approx. 2 hrs.) to Chiang Dao and visit the Chiang Dao Caves. Drive about 10min further to the start of the trek. We ride elephants for approx. 2hrs through the hills until we reach a Karen village. The elephant trek brings us right to the village. Spend the night in this village. (L,D)

Day 2   Walk for 1½-2hrs hrs., passing through another  village. At the end of the hike we arrive at our pick up point and then drive to the rafting point where we raft down the river for approx. 1½ hrs. End the trek, where we stop for lunch before driving back to Chiang Mai (approx. 1½ hrs.) (B,L) 

Highlights = longer elephant trekking and a bamboo rafting trip, as well as easy hiking  in the hills and staying with the Karen tribe. Recommended anytime of year but especially June-February.
