Thailand Tour - 2 days touring ancient Sukothai Sukothai & the Ancient City (ref. SKPT1) Day 1 On the first day make an early start, driving to the young elephant training centre on the route to Lampang. See the elephants going through their early morning routines and displaying some of their skills. Continue on to Lampang, where lunch is taken. Drive further on to Si Satchanalai, an ancient city built to emulate Sukothai, but with its own distinctly impressive temples. Continue on to Sukothai. Accommodation for the night is at one of the hotels in Sukothai. (L) Day 2 The best time of day to see the old city of Sukothai is early in the morning. There is an option of driving or taking a bicycle to tour around the ancient ruins. We try to cover as many sites as possible but you will still have enough time to appreciate and photograph each site. The most famous and impressive are Wat Mahathat, Wat Trapang Ngoen, Wat Sri Sawai and Wat Si Chum. After touring Sukothai, drive to Phitsanuloke to see the famous Phra Buddha Chinnarat, much revered not only by the people of Phitsanuloke but also the people of Thailand. Lunch is taken in Phitsanuloke. In the afternoon visit the Buddha making foundry and the Dr. Thawi Folklore Museum with its extensive collection of implements used in Thai households and on Thai farms in the past. Drive back to Chiang Mai or take a flight if schedules permit. (B,L) Click here for enquiries and bookings Thailand Tour - 3 days touring ancient Sukothai Sukothai Explorer (ref. SKPT2) Day 1 Drive from Chiang Mai to the young elephant training centre on the route to Lampang. See the elephants going through their early morning routines and displaying some of their skills. Continue on to Lampang, where lunch is taken. After lunch explore some of the many temples in Lampang, which show a significant Burmese influence. Also tour one of the oldest and largest teak houses in Lampang; a reminder of how Lampang was the the base for teak trade in the early twentieth century. Overnight in Lampang. (L) Day 2 In the morning, drive further on to Si Satchanalai, an ancient city built to emulate Sukothai, but with its own distinctly impressive temples. Continue on to Phitsanuloke. Visit the famous temple of Phra Buddha Chinarat, which is said to be the most beautiful Buddha image in Thailand. Then tour the agricultural museum and the Buddha making foundry, where you can see how the Buddhas are made using the "lost wax" method. Drive approx. one more hour to Sukothai. Overnight in Sukothai. (B,L) Day 3 The morning is the best time to visit the Old City of Sukothai. We take an extensive tour of the park area with the many old temples spread throughout. There is an option of taking bicycles or our tour vehicle for the trip. We try to cover as many sites as possible but you will still have enough time to appreciate and photograph each site. The most famous and impressive are Wat Mahathat, Wat Trapang Ngoen, Wat Sri Sawai and Wat Si Chum. The tour will then finish in the afternoon. There is a choice of driving back to Chiang Mai or taking an onward flight from either Phitsanuloke or Sukothai. The tour can be adapted according to your departure point and time. (B,L)

Day 1 Drive
north of Chiang Mai, first visiting the orchid farm and then drive further
north, close to Chiang Dao. Stop at the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp and watch
the elephants going through their early morning routine. Then take a ride
on the elephants for 1 1/2 hrs to a Lisu hilltribe village. After lunch we
visit the Chiang Dao Caves - an ancient complex of temple caves used for
worship for many centuries. Lastly we continue the journey up to Thaton
(on the banks of the Kok River) where we spend the night. (L) Overnight at
Thaton Riverview Resort Day 2
In the morning visit the Padong (long neck tribe). This tribe is famous
for the brass rings worn around the womens necks which give the appearance
of a long neck. Then continue on to Mae Salong, an ethnic Chinese town set
in the hills north of Chiang Rai. Mae Salong is famous for its Chinese
atmosphere and produces various Chinese agricultural products the most
famous being its Chinese tea. Drive down from Mae Salong which gives you
views across the hills of upper Northern Thailand and visit the border
town of Mae Sai. This town is on the border of Thailand and Burma and is
the centre for cross border trade in the area. There are markets on both
sides of the border. We then check into our hotel at the Golden Triangle. Overnight at a resort
overlooking the Mekong River. (B,L) Day 3
Early morning there is time to relax and admire the views across the
Mekong River. Then we take a longtail boat down the Mekong River (approx.
1hr) to Chiang Saen. We explore the town of Chiang Saen with its ancient
temples. In the afternoon drive back to Chiang Rai - stop for lunch and
visit Wat Phra Kaew. Late afternoon we drive back to Chiang Mai; there is
the option of stopping at a local resort to taste some of the best locally
grown coffee.(B,L) Thailand Tour - 3 days touring Chiang Rai and the Golden Triangle Chiang Rai Discovery (ref. CRPT6) Day 1 Drive from Chiang Mai up to Chiang Dao (approx. 1 hr.) and stop at the elephant camp. After watching the elephants demonstrating their skills, take a ride and admire the view from your seat on the elephant's back. Then explore some hilltribe villages and learn about the cultural variety of the area. Two of the tribes you will see are the Palong and the Lisu, two of the most colourful and interesting tribes. Then drive on to Taton where we will spend the night at a riverside resort. (L) Overnight at the Thaton Riverview resort. Day 2 In the morning we explore the town of Thaton and drive just outside to visit the Padong tribe (long neck tribe). This tribe is famous for the brass rings worn around the womens' necks which give the appearance of a long neck. After lunch take a longtail boat from Taton to Chiang Rai. You will be able to see the scenery and life along the river banks. The boat journey lasts for approx 3 hrs. We finish the journey in Chiang Rai; after rejoining our vehicle we drive up to the Golden Triangle, where we spend the night at a resort overlooking the Mekong River. (B,L) Day 3 In the morning there is time to enjoy the views over the Mekong River and then we explore the ancient temples of Chiang Saen. We also drive up to the Burmese border at Mae Sai and spend some time to explore this bustling market town. Late afternoon, drive back to Chiang Mai passing through Chiang Rai and there is the option of stopping at a local resort to taste some of the best locally grown coffee.(B,L) Click here for enquiries and bookings
