Three days in Chiang Mai -
Choice 1
Day 1 - Doi Suthep
temple and handicrafts -
This tour starts at 9am. You
are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
First drive from your hotel up to Doi Suthep Temple, which is approx. 12kms from downtown
Chiang Mai. The majority of the route is a winding uphill journey passing through Doi
Suthep National Park. At the base of the hill you will pass Chiang Mai Zoo and the Kruba
Srivichai Monument.
At the end of the journey, we leave the car at the base of the temple steps. You can reach
the temple by climbing the 190 steps or by taking the small "cable car" to the
top.
Once at the temple you can admire the magnificent views over the temple valley as well as
the temple atmosphere and architecture. The highlight is the inner sanctum which houses
the enormous golden stupa.
Drive down
from Doi Suthep and have lunch. Afterwards visit some of the many handicraft villages in
the Sankamphaeng area. As well as seeing products you will be able to see how they are
made. Products include - celadon, silver, furniture, jewellery, lacquerware, silk, saa
paper, handmade umbrellas and more. Plenty of opportunities for buying bargains and
beautiful handmade products.
The tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 5pm
Day 2 - Chiang
Dao Elephant Camp -
This tour starts
at 8.30am. You are picked up from your hotel by your guide. Drive north of Chiang Mai to
Chiang Dao (approx. 1hr) to the elephant camp. At the elephant camp you will see the
elephants taking their morning bath and demonstrating some of their skills. Afterwards
take an elephant ride for approx. 1˝ hrs to a Lisu hilltribe village. The ride takes you
through some of the lovely forest scenery and along the river. After lunch take a bamboo
raft trip down the river for approx. 1 hr, admire the scenery and absorb the tranquility
as you float down the river. Then drive back to Chiang Mai in the afternoon.
This tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 3pm.
Day 3 - Chiang
Rai & the Golden Triangle -
This tour starts at 7.30am. You
are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
Drive north-east from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai (approx. 180kms). On the way stop at the
hot springs at Mae Kachan and then continue on to Chiang Rai. Tour around the town of
Chiang Rai and continue driving to Chiang Saen (approx. 60kms). In Chiang Saen explore the
old temples including Wat Pa Sak; also visit the museum. Then drive a bit further to Sop
Ruak, this is the place where you can see the three countries of Thailand, Laos and Burma.
Stop here briefly, then drive to Mae Sai. Mae Sai is a border town on the Thai-Burmese
border. There is a market to browse around and look for Burmese products or some products
which have been brought from China. After Mae Sai we start to head for Chiang Mai,
visiting hilltribe villages on the way back to Chiang Mai.
This tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 8pm.

ancient city site of King Mengrai (the founder of Chiang Mai). Afterwards visit some of the many handicraft villages in

made. Products include - celadon, silver, furniture, jewellery, lacquerware, silk, saa
paper, handmade umbrellas and more. Plenty of opportunities for buying bargains and

Day 2 - Mae Ta
Man Elephant Camp -
This tour starts at 8.30am. You
are picked up from your hotel by your guide. Drive north of Chiang Mai
to Mae Taeng (approx. 1hr) to the elephant camp. At the elephant camp you will see the
elephants taking their morning bath and demonstrating some of their skills. Afterwards
take an elephant ride for approx. 1 hrs. Afterwards enjoy a ride in a
traditional ox cart for approx. 15 mins. Then after lunch take a bamboo
raft trip down the river for approx. 1 hr, admire the scenery and absorb the tranquility
as you float down the river. A good day out for all the family, suitable for
all ages. Then drive back to Chiang Mai in the afternoon.
This tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 3pm.
Day 3 - Doi
Inthanon National Park -
This tour starts at 8.30am.
You are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
Drive south of Chiang Mai for approx. 1 hr to the town of Chomtong. Close to this town we
turn off the road into the Doi Inthanon National Park. Then drive up to the top of Doi
Inthanon (another 50kms approx.) - at the top you can see the twin chedis commemorating
the birthdays of the King and Queen of Thailand, as well as take a walk to see the unique
flora of the area. Because of the high altitude the flora is noticeably different from
that at lower altitudes. It is also the only place where you will see rhododendrons
growing in Thailand.
On the way down from the summit stop to see the Mae Klang waterfall and a Karen hilltribe
village. Also explore the local agricultural research station which grows and experiments
with crops that can be grown in the area.
Drive back to Chiang Mai, (approx 1˝hrs.).

Day 2 - One Day Trek,
Mini Adventure -
Pick up from your hotel at 8am. Drive 45 mins. to the south-west of Chiang Mai. Arrive at the
elephant camp and ride on the elephants for approx. 1 hr. Drive on to a Karen village,
where we start a 2 hr. hike through the forest. We pass a number of waterfalls on the way;
you can cool off with a refreshing swim. We end up at a Karen
village, where there's time to rest and explore. Lunch is had along the
way or at the village. After exploring the village walk for 1 hr. to the
pick up point, and then drive to the start of the rafting trip. Travel
down the river on bamboo rafts for approx. 1 hr. Then drive back to
Chiang Mai by approx 5pm.
Day 3 - Thai
Cookery Course - Take a one day Thai Cookery course at the Green
Mango Thai Cookery School. The day includes a visit to the market,
preparation of curry paste from scratch, explanation of rice preparation &
cooking, and the cooking and preparation of five Thai dishes. Also tasting of Thai fruits or
dessert. The course runs daily and menu varies according to day.

2. Cooking and preparation of sticky rice and steamed rice
3. Somtam (Papaya Salad)
4. Tom Kha Gai (Chicken in coconut milk soup)
5. Khao Pad Phak sai Kai (Fried Rice with vegetables & egg)

7. Steamed local vegetables to be eaten with Nam Phrik
8. Gluay Nam Cheum (Fried Bananas with coconut toffee and icecream)
