Trek & Tour - Pack 1

Day 1    Arrive in Chiang Mai. Transfer from the Airport to your hotel. In the evening attend a traditional Khantoke dinner - traditional Northern Thai food and Thai dancing. (D) Accommodation according to grade chosen.

Day 2 -  Doi Suthep temple and handicrafts - This tour starts at 9am. You are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
First drive from your hotel up to Doi Suthep Temple, which is approx. 12kms from downtown Chiang Mai. The majority of the route is a winding uphill journey passing through Doi Suthep National Park. At the base of the hill you will pass Chiang Mai Zoo and the Kruba Srivichai Monument.
At the end of the journey, we leave the car at the base of the temple steps. You can reach the temple by climbing the 190 steps or by taking the small "cable car" to the top.
Once at the temple you can admire the magnificent views over the temple valley as well as the temple atmosphere and architecture. The highlight is the inner sanctum which houses the enormous golden stupa.
Drive down from Doi Suthep and have lunch.  Afterwards visit some of the many handicraft villages in the Sankamphaeng area. As well as seeing products you will be able to see how they are made. Products include - celadon, silver, furniture, jewellery, lacquerware, silk, saa paper, handmade umbrellas and more. Plenty of opportunities for buying bargains and beautiful handmade products.
The tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 5pm

Day 3 - 3 Day Trek - Lanna Trail -    Start of our three day trek. Drive north of Chiang Mai for approx. 2hrs, stopping for lunch along the way. In the afternoon drive up to the Lahu village, where we start trekking. Walk mostly uphill for approx. 3hrs. to a Karen village. Overnight at the Karen village. Learn about the fascinating Karen tribe and stay in their village, which has tremendous views over the surrounding area. (B,L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house.

Day 4    Walk for approx. 2˝hrs. and stop for lunch at a Lahu village. In the afternoon, take a ride on the elephants for approx. 2hrs, arriving at a Palong village. Overnight at the Palong village. See the Palong tribe who only recently came to settle in Thailand from Burma. (B,L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house.

Day 5    Walk for approx. 2˝hrs. to the Ping River and stop for lunch. Then board the bamboo rafts and cruise down the river for approx. 1˝-2hrs. Then drive back to Chiang Mai (approx. 2hrs).  (B,L) Accommodation according to grade chosen.

Day 6    Depart from Chiang Mai, for your next destination. We transfer you from your hotel to Chiang Mai Airport. (B)

2. Cooking and preparation of sticky rice and steamed rice
3.  Somtam (Papaya Salad)
4. Tom Kha Gai (Chicken in coconut milk soup)
5. Khao Pad Phak sai Kai (Fried Rice with vegetables & egg) 
6. Nam Phrik Ong (Northern Style Spicy minced pork)
7. Steamed local vegetables to be eaten with Nam Phrik
8.  Gluay Nam Cheum (Fried Bananas with coconut toffee and icecream)
9. Tasting Thai desserts

Day 2 - Two Day Trek, Close Encounter with Nature - Drive south of Chiang Mai to an elephant camp and ride on the elephants for 1 hour. Continue driving on to a Karen village, stopping for lunch on the way. From the Karen village walk for 2˝ hours through the foothills of Doi Inthanon, passing two waterfalls on the way. Our final stop is another Karen village, where we spend the night. (B,L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house. 

Day 3 -  Walk for 1 hour in the morning, passing through a Karen village and then rejoin the truck to drive on to the raft camp. We stop for lunch on the way. In the afternoon raft down the river on bamboo rafts for approx. 1 hour. Then drive back to Chiang Mai. (B,L) Accommodation according to grade chosen.

Day 4    Depart from Chiang Mai, for your next destination. We transfer you from your hotel to Chiang Mai Airport. (B)

Day 3 - 3 Day Trek - Doi Inthanon Trekking Adventure -    Drive south from Chiang Mai for about 2 hrs, to the summit of Doi Inthanon (the highest mountain of Thailand). We visit the twin chedi monuments as well as the summit of the mountain. Then we drive downhill a short way and visit the Royal Project for agriculture. We take a packed lunch to have at the Vachiratarn Waterfalls. After lunch we drive a short distance (15mins) to the start of our hiking trail. In the afternoon we walk for about 2hrs to a Karen village where we spend the night. (Hiking is in the National Park itself) (B,L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house.

Day 4    Leave the Karen village and walk for approx. 3hrs to another Karen village where we have lunch. We walk for a further 2 hrs in the afternoon to the Karen village where we spend the night. Hiking on the second day is also in the National Park itself with lovely scenery, plant life and a climate considerably cooler than the lower lying areas. (B,L,D) Accommodation in a hilltribe house.

Day 5    Walk for for 2 hours to the elephant camp passing a waterfall on the way where we stop for a rest. We take a 1 hour elephant ride and then break for lunch. In the afternoon our transport will take us to the rafting point, and we raft down the river on bamboo rafts for approx. 1hr. Drive back to Chiang Mai which takes approx. 1hr.  (B,L) Accommodation according to grade chosen.

Day 3 - One Day Trek, Mini Adventure - Pick up from your hotel at 8am. Drive 45 mins. to the south-west of Chiang Mai. Arrive at the elephant camp and ride on the elephants for approx. 1 hr. Drive on to a Karen village, where we start a 2 hr. hike through the forest. We pass a number of waterfalls on the way; where you can cool off with a refreshing swim. We end up at a Karen village, where there's time to rest and explore. Lunch is had along the way or at the village. After exploring the village walk for 1 hr. to the pick up point, and then drive to the start of the rafting trip. Travel down the river on bamboo rafts for approx. 1 hr. Then drive back to Chiang Mai by approx 5pm.  (B,L) Accommodation according to grade chosen.

Day 3 - Doi Inthanon Explorer - Take a one day hiking and sightseeing tour into Doi Inthanon National Park. This tour starts at 8.30am. You are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
Drive south of Chiang Mai for approx. 1 hr to the town of Chomtong. Close to this town we turn off the road into the Doi Inthanon National Park. Then drive up to the top of Doi Inthanon (another 50kms approx.) - at the top you can see the twin chedis commemorating the birthdays of the King and Queen of Thailand. We also take the nature micro trail for about 30 mins of easy hiking. Because of the high altitude the flora is noticeably different from that at lower altitudes. It is also the only place where you will see rhododendrons growing in Thailand. Coming down from the summit we stop and hike the Kiew Mae Pan trail which is a trail taking approx. 1 hr into the National Park.
On the way down from the summit stop to see the Mae Klang waterfall and a Karen hilltribe village. Also explore the local agricultural research station which grows and experiments with crops that can be grown in the area.
Drive back to Chiang Mai, (approx 1˝hrs.).
This tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 5pm.
