Mae On Cave, Hotsprings & Handicrafts - One Day Tour (CMOD6)
This tour starts at 9am. You
are picked up from your hotel by your guide.
First drive east of Chiang Mai approx. 35kms to the Mae On Cave. This cave used to be the
meditation retreat of a famous monk approx. 80 years ago. It also serves as a temple
and you can see many Buddha statues inside. As well as these you will find stalactites and
stalacmites, and a fossilized dinosaur skeleton inside the cave. From the car park there
are over 100 steps to climb before reaching the cave and to go into the cave there are
flights of steps leading downwards.
After the cave drive back in the direction of Sankamphaeng and stop at the hot springs.
Here you will see the hot water geysers and there is the option of taking a local style
sauna.
After lunch tour the handicraft centres of Sankamphaeng and see the many products made. A
chance to see local artisans at work and pick up some bargains.
This tour ends when you are taken back to your hotel at approx. 5pm.
Notes: This is a private tour; entrance fees and lunch are included.
Saunas and treatments at the hot springs are not included but are possible options.
