Bangkok to Chiang Mai Tour -
Northern Historical Route & Chiang Rai Day 1 Pick up at your hotel in Bangkok and drive towards Ayutthaya. Drive to Ayutthaya to visit the ancient capital site, where we will visit the ancient city and temple remains and then continue on to Phitsanuloke. In Phisanuloke visit the Buddha making foundry, to see the Buddha images being cast in metal. See the famous golden Buddha statue of Phra Buddha Chinarat at Wat Mahathat.(B,L) Overnight in Phitsanuloke at Amarin Lagoon Resort. Day 2
Drive north towards Chiang Mai, first
stopping at the ancient city site of Sukothai with it's many temple
ruins and famous Buddha statues. We spend the morning touring the Old
Sukothai Historical Park with it's famous temple ruins that appear in
photos worldwide. We visit temple ruins including Wat Mahathat and Wat
Trapang Ngoen. The Park is a World Heritage Site and therefore of
immense historical importance. Leave the park driving further north and
visit old Sukothai's twin city of Si Satchanalai a more remote and
quieter ancient city site. See some of the famous ruins such as Wat
Chang Lom.
Day 3 - Doi Suthep

This tour starts at 9am. You
are picked up from your hotel by your guide. Day 4 - 3
Day Tour to Chiang Rai area -
Drive north of Chiang Mai, approx 1hr to Chiang Dao. Stop at an Elephant
Camp and see the elephant demonstration and bathing time then take
a ride on the elephants for 1 1/2 hrs to a Lisu hilltribe village .
After lunch we visit the Chiang Dao Caves - an ancient complex Day 5 In the morning visit the Padong (long neck tribe). This tribe is famous for the brass rings worn around the womens necks which give the appearance of a long neck. Then continue on to Mae Salong, an ethnic Chinese town set in the hills north of Chiang Rai. Mae Salong is famous for its Chinese atmosphere and produces various Chinese agricultural products the most famous being its Chinese tea. Drive down from Mae Salong which gives you views across the hills of upper Northern Thailand and visit the border town of Mae Sai. This town is on the border of Thailand and Burma and is the centre for cross border trade in the area. There are markets on both sides of the border. We then check into our hotel in Chiang Rai.(B,L) Overnight in Chiang Rai at The Legend Resort. Day 6 In the morning we drive up to the Golden Triangle and admire the views across the Mekong River. Then we take a longtail boat down the Mekong River (approx. 1hr) to Chiang Saen. We explore the town of Chiang Saen with its ancient temples. In the afternoon drive back to Chiang Rai - stop for lunch and visit Wat Phra Kaew. Late afternoon we drive back to Chiang Mai; there is the option of stopping at a local resort to taste some of the best locally grown coffee. (B,L) Transfer to your hotel (breakfast included on day 7). Overnight at Yangcome Village or U Hotel. End of tour.Note:
This is a private tour, meals are included as indicated, as well as A/C
transport with driver, English speaking guide and entrance fees are
included throughout. Activities included as listed, such as elephant riding
and boat trip.
